The CCM Prototying / MET lab is a key learning area in the MET program at CCM. The lab contains five Logan toolroom manual lathes, a larger Lodge and Shipley lathe, three Bridgeport vertical milling machines, a Cinncinatti horizontal mill, a Sheldon horizontal mill, five drill presses, two band saws as well as various bench grinders, sheet metal tools and a small MIG welding area. The lab also contains a Hitachi CNC lathe, a Milltronics CNC vertical mill with tool changer, two Tormac single-tool CNC mills, a Z-Corp 3D printer and various benchtop CNC machines. The shop is equipped with a variety of fixtures, measuring instruments and material storage areas. A full-time lab assistant maintains the lab. The lab is used for required classes as well as an extra-curricular SAE chapter. Students may also join a local FIRST Robotics team that uses the lab.
