New Jersey Historics-2017.

Photos and Video.

Thanks to all VRG workers/volunteers! This was a fantastic event!

My faithful Nikon D-40 camera died so I ended up doing all the still photos below with my camera/phone. Not the best quality for sure. And my Sony video recorder missed one session due to a low battery (but I still got a lot of video).

Link To Video below (scroll down below Video Links for photos)....I tried to edit out all the "dead" or boring time and keep mostly "close action scenes.

The VRG Board really appreciated your attendance and comments at the annual VRG membership meeting.

I hope many of you who were at the VRG/NJ Historics got to speak with the guy in this photo with me (see below). He's Tony Olissoff. Tony lives in New Zealand but he is currently touring the USA entering various vintage car races with his super-rare 1960 Emeryson Elfin Mk1 Formula Junior. Right now (2017) there is a "Jubilee Cup for Formula Junior" race cars going on in the USA so Tony decided to join the fun. Tony had his right-hand drive Ford Transit van shipped over from NZ with his race car inside it! (it barely fits). He has been camping and racing all over the USA for many months now and is going home to NZ next week. But he is shipping the Ford van and race car to England where it will be stored. After a few months in NZ he will fly to Europe and tour around to various European vintage car races. As you might imagine, he's having a great time and has some amazing stories. He told me he thought VRG was a nice, "clubby" group, "just like back in NZ" (his words). Tony's car uses an engine similar to the engine in my MG Midget (actually a 998 A-Series). But it has been adapted to a VW bug transmission and then hooked up to a home-made, front wheel-drive set up. It's really made from lots of bits and pieces but the car has great performance. It was originally built in the USA and ran its first race in Bridgehampton, L.I. around 1961. Then the car went through a number of owners all over the world and somehow ended up in New Zealand where Tony bought it. In the vintage racing world, Tony's car is well-known and he has run it at the invitation-only races at Goodwood, UK. Neat car and neat guy!.
