A great event! If you missed it, kick yourself hard and promise yourself not to miss it next year. Excellent racing, wonderful weather, friendly and helpful people, neat old planes, neat old cars, top-drawer facility......AND.....all in NEW JERSEY!

The four videos (below) were taken from Spridget #909. They were shot during the Group 1 races or the MG/Allard races. The car was stuck in fourth gear, so you won't hear any speed-shifting or heel-and-toe downshifts.

Great thanks to Mark Palmer (below), plus all the volunteers, workers, flaggers and staff that made this event HAPPEN!

Where else are you going to point your camera and see TWO red Mokes plus a Citation biz-jet chugging off Runway 28 at Full-Tilt-Boogy? (below)

Snapped another axle (below), but I really only missed part of one session, so no big deal. What WAS a big deal was the trans: when I rolled it off the trailer Friday night, it made a wierd clicking sound. When I drove it slowly around the paddock Saturday morning in first gear, it kept dropping into REVERSE! Did it in second gear too.....at about 10 mph. Not good. I drove it around in third (very slowly) and it kept making a hellacious screaming sound as if my cat was stuck inside the gearbox. I think it was *trying* to go into reverse from third too. Fourth gear (the only "direct" gear) seemed fine. So I took some very gentle laps in fourth gear and gradually got used to having a one-speed Spridget. I ran the entire weekend using only fourth gear. I noticed the snapped axle allowed oil to ooze all over one of the rear brakes. This made the stopping situation a bit "off" too.....especially since I couldn't downshift. Chugging out of the left hander after the bridge, I was down to 2800 RPM at times.....an old VW bus could have out-drag raced me.

I have never heard of an "Australian Pursuit Race" before, but it was great fun. Here's the winners (below). Great job! This part of the event was a feature for The MG Vintage Racers at http://www.mgvr.org/

The planes were neat. I even saw a mid-1940s Aeronca L3 (like mine) when the "L-birds" were aloft.

I would have *never* realized this was based on a TR-3 without the badges.

Charlie Greenhaus and his Entropy Racing gang was present and accounted for at the Thunderbolt Historics (below).....and with Charlie's cool old firetruck / transporter. The Entropy SRS cars fit in well at the event. If you'd like to rent one of the SRS cars for a 2009 event, contact Charlie at http://www.entropyracing.net/

If your car's not ready for an event and you'd still like to run it, give him a call and rent one of his. This is a simple and easy way to get quality seat-time (also, it's sort of neat to drive to the track in your street car and leave the car-prep and towing to Chas).

Judging by the tags, this car (below) may have a "six". Nice ride!
