Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix at Schenley Park-2011

....

Great Thanks to all the good folks at Vintage Racer Group (VRG), the Steel Cities region SCCA, my fellow racers.....and especially the flaggers/F&C folks, track workers, timing & scoring, registration, tech inspection, general volunteers and emergency service personnel. Great Job! Also, Special thanks to all the "mid-pack, small-bore gang" that were such fun to race with. Linda and I spent the week in Pittsburgh and had a great time. We visited the Carnegie Natural History and Science museum, the Cathedral of Learning at Pitt (where she started grad school), the Frick home (and the neat Carriage House), the Incline (of course) plus the National Aviary. We even saw the house she used to live in (it looks the same). Also ate at some nice, local restaurants in Oakland. We really enjoyed Pittsburgh and look forward to returning next year!

In-Car Videos---Below.

The videos below are arranged roughly in order of my preference (in other words, I think the "best" one are towards the top). But honestly, they're all pretty decent. Note that I have used "Picture in Picture" in most of them to provide rear view scenes (OK, I should have reversed the rear view videos, but I'm not *that* dedicated to doing this....haha).

As usual, I have overlayed music to hide the poor sound pickup of the Flip camera (yes, I've tried to cover the microphone with tape plus other ideas). My Flip camera was only $79 so I can sort of accept the poor sound quality. This winter I'll look to do a "Flip hack" and add an external mic. And I'm also looking at the new Contour GPS video camera (about $250) which has an external mic plus some other really good features. The rear camera I used was a Vivitar DVR-410 (similar to a Flip) which cost $29 in WalMart. To see my low-buck, cheesy camera mount.......
